Annual Chinese Text Recital Competition Draws Record 2,500 Students

          A record number of 2,525 students from 272 primary and secondary schools, junior colleges, and Millennia Institute submitted more than 1,400 video entries for the 8th National Text Recital Competition. 107 students emerged winners and were recognised for their vocal articulation, fluency and stage presence at the award ceremony today. Guest-of-Honour Ms Jasmin Lau, Minister of State for Education and Chairperson of the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), delivered a speech and presented awards to the winners. 2. In the lead-up to the competition, over 700 students participated in a virtual workshop conducted by the Singapore Chinese Teachers Literary Recital Society to learn recitation techniques. More than 60 teachers also participated in a workshop conducted by a veteran broadcaster and voice talent, Mr Lee Yong Tick, where they learnt techniques to improve their students' recitation skills.

3. Jointly organised by the CPCLL, Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School, Chung Cheng High School (Main) and the Singapore Chinese Teachers Literary Recital Society, the competition aims to raise students' Chinese language reading proficiency, ignite their love for learning the language, and deepen their understanding and appreciation of Chinese texts.
